Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico, Negrar, Veneto, Italy
Obtained from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes grown in the Valpolicella Classico area using the traditional method of drying in large fruttaio, or drying rooms.
Intense and persistent, ethereal, fruity with hints of cherries and dried prunes, dried flowers and spices. Full bodied and very smooth, with beautifully balanced velvety tannins.
A luscious, highly enjoyable example of this remarkable wine style. Produced by the historic co-operative of Cantina di Negrar, where recent investment and renewed concentration on quality has resulted in some of the best-value wines of the region.
Served at room temperature Amarone is a dry wine suitable for main courses of red meats, roasts and game. It is an ideal wine to be savoured “in meditation”. When drunk young it will benefit from decanting.
